QRMFN works to recognise, empower and support rural medical spouses, partners and families and through them, also the doctors in rural and remote practice and training throughout Queensland. The Network is a not-for-profit, non-government organisation funded through Health Workforce Queensland.
We represent an extensive network of men and women who recognise the value of sharing information, thoughts and ideas based on a common understanding of the experiences and challenges associated with being partners and families of rural doctors. In order to facilitate these benefits, QRMFN offers a range of information, referral and support services to rural medical families throughout Queensland. To find out more about these services, please see the ‘Support Services’ section of this website.
Through its programs, QRMFN aims to further enhance the experiences of rural medical families, and in so doing, positively affect the sustainability of Queensland’s rural medical workforce.
The following principles underpin the activities of QRMFN:
That all members of rural and remote medical families in Queensland have access to family support.
Empowering members of rural medical families through the provision of information, support and assistance.
To achieve our purpose we strive to:
- Work in partnership with key stakeholders and medical families;
- Be innovative and creative;
- Demonstrate excellence and professionalism;
- Employ integrity and confidentiality;
- Be consistent and accountable; and
- Promote teamwork, mutual respect, trust and support.
The leadership and provision of many of the Network’s services relies upon the voluntary contributions of it’s Management Committee and volunteers. QRMFN is very much aware and appreciative of the critical role our volunteers play in determining the quality and sustainability of support we are able to offer to both new and established families. We support and welcome the involvement of all rural medical families in Queensland in our programs and services.
